MYOOZE and founder of TOMS shoes Blake Mycoskie has been busy. He’s created a line of sunglasses that for every purchase, will provide a pair of eyeglasses for someone in need. Also, he recently partnered with fellow MYOOZE and founder of FEED Lauren Bush to create a new shoe. With every purchase of these shoes, children in need will not only receive shoes but also school meals for an entire year.

Medea
What do art, boats, and radio noise have to do with each other? If you’re the fine folks at Soundwalk Collective, the answer is everything! Their new composition, Medea, was recorded over a two-month crossing of the Black Sea, cutting together captured sounds and radio signals from all across the region. This otherworldy installation will be premiering at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, France on May 4th.

Molai’s Woods
Not many people can say they planted an entire forest by themselves, but Jadav “Molai” Payeng is one of them. At 16, Payeng started planting seeds on a sandbar near his home in India. Now 47, his life’s work has grown into a thriving habitat for birds, rhinos, tigers, and even elephants. Incredibly, Payeng went about his work with such little fanfare that Indian officials didn’t even notice the forest until 2008.

Josh Keyes: Wilding the Future
In honor of National Wildlife Day we’re proud to feature the paintings of Josh Keyes. These bleakly humorous scenes are influenced by the futurist ideas of Buckminster Fuller and deeply concerned with environmental issues. Any city dweller who has heard the banshee cry of a mountain lion driven to search our garbage heaps for food will see the near-future reality of Keyes’ City Limits where a young buck gently approaches a parking meter. Like a diorama at the Natural History Museum, it is as though we are seeing animals both as they will be and, not so far in the future, as they once were. Josh’s work will be featured in a solo show beginning October 22nd at the legendary Jonathan LeVine gallery.
