About MYOO
What is MYOO?
Consider us your launching pad for inspiration, storytelling and adventure. We’re an environmental hybrid—half magazine, half blog featuring in-depth profiles of incredible individuals working to heal the planet. But that’s a small portion of what we do. We’ve also got you covered on all the latest current news in a broad range of environmental issues. And what’s more, we’d like you to be an integral part of the whole experience, sharing your comments, articles, photos and videos with the MYOO community every step along the way.
What was Adventure Ecology?
Adventure Ecology, the organization behind the Plastiki expedition was launched in 2005 to educate, entertain and raise awareness of environmental and social issues whilst driving real world solutions. In the five years that have followed we have been working hard to give nature a voice; from traversing icecaps to trekking through rainforests to successfully crossing the Pacific Ocean in a catamaran made buoyant by 12,500 plastic bottles. We’re motivated by one simple pursuit: to inspire and engage widespread, global attention and action to combat the critical issues faced by planet Earth.
What has happened to Adventure Ecology?
You might be asking yourself, “What’s going to happen to Adventure Ecology?” Don’t worry. We’re not hanging up the explorer’s hat any time soon. The innovative expeditions will continue – only now they’ll be flying under the MYOO Explore banner.
How do I pronounce MYOO?
The name MYOO comes from the phonetic spelling of community (kuh-MYOO-nity), it also rhymes with dew, view, and shoe – although we don’t really mind how you pronounce us so long as you care about the planet too!
What makes up MYOO?
The MYOO organization exists to INSPIRE, INNOVATE AND ACTIVATE individuals, industry and organizations towards a better Planet 2.0 way of living. MYOO is made up of 4 divisions: MYOO.com, MYOO Explore, MYOO Create and MYOO Agency
What is the site all about?
We are not just another news organ commenting on the world sliding into peril. We’re better. We’re an environmental hybrid–half magazine, half blog featuring in-depth profiles of individuals working to heal the planet while producing daily content on a broad range of environmental topics and current events. And what’s more, we want you to be a part of it through sharing your comments, articles, photos, videos and more. This site is all about Me + You (Myoo), so what are you waiting for?

Using the site
Where can I leave feedback for the site?
We’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions for the site, just visit our feedback tab on the left of every page.
I posted a comment, why can’t I see it on the site?
The first comment you post to the site will need to undergo approval before it shows up. After your first comment has been approved your comments will automatically show as soon as they’re posted.
My comment is no longer on the site, why?
We want our site to be a place for the very best honest & transparent conversations. Whilst we’re not shy of critical viewpoints (this is what often sparks change, right?), we do moderate the comment streams and will delete any comments deemed inappropriate by the moderation team. Yes, this can be a little subjective, but we’re only human, and the goal is to create a safe and open platform for conversation. See our terms and conditions for more information.
What does the moderation team class an appropriate comment?
We’re going to pull together a guideline for all comments and discussions on the site. But until then we’ll be reviewing comments based upon whether they are on topic and relevant to the site and its users. If your comment is not, then it may be taken down by our team.
Do you accept submissions for MYOO.com?
We sure do! Visit the participate page to find out more.
How will you use my work?
Once you’ve sent us your work we will decide if and when it will be used on the site, we may need to edit it for tone and length depending on where it’s used. We’ll then let you know when we put it live. All work submissions will remain the property of the author, and you will always be credited. See terms & conditions for more details.
I sent in my work but haven’t had a response yet, did you receive it?
Because we are a small operation, and because our needs may depend on the theme of our current issue, our response time can vary a great deal anywhere from two weeks to three months. After all, we can only read so fast! Because of this, we ask that all submitters bear in mind the very slow nature of the process and humbly ask for your patience. We promise to be in touch as soon as we can.
